Date & Dish

A couple of days ago I got a call from a recruiter.  Once I realize it’s a recruiter, I sort of go deaf and just get their number and tell them I will call back and then don’t.  So I took this guy’s number and told him I’d call him the next day and didn’t.

Well, he was tenacious and called me again the next day.  It just so happens that I had had a big bowl of ice cream and cake prior to the call, so I was a bit giddy.  The conversation somehow got around to the topic of Sex and the City and within a few minutes, the recruiter and I were laughing and carrying on.  I didn’t want to cavort so openly on the phone at work, so I told him I’d call him after work.

We continued our chat after work, where I learned that the recruiter and I had gone to rivaling high schools in the same county and that he was 27 and also hated driving, much like myself.

The recruiter called me again this morning and pretended it was about business, but it surely didn’t feel like it.  He told me more about himself and that he had gone to see a musical last night, Bombay Dreams.  I’m a mild Bollywood fan, so that struck me as interesting.  We continued our chat and then an email followed with his cell number and a casual invitation to coffee or perhaps food…  Hmmm…..this smells like a date, but it really isn’t (is it?).  After all, he could look like Jabba the Hut and so could I for all he knows.
